Who attends?
Any student motivated to improve their French will be interested in these courses. They are particularly beneficial to students who have completed at least first year French and students who will sit their Leaving Certificate Examination in 2010. The language classes focus on the “immersion method” therefore enabling the students to communicate and converse in French
from the time they start their classes.

What does the course entail?
A language stay is a combination of French tuition either in small groups (5 to 10 students) or private lessons. Excursions to Saint Tropez, Nice and the Provencal markets as well as guided tours of the local towns such as Saint Raphael and Fréjus are also organised. Trips to Monaco take place at the weekend. Sports such as sailing and golf and leisure activities are also arranged. Tailor made programmes can also be designed to suit the needs of the group depending on age of students and linguistic requirements.

All teachers in the school are fully qualified experienced teachers of the French language and are French native speakers.

Accommodation
Students stay with French families who are carefully selected by the Director of the school. All host families are located within 15 minutes walk from the school.

The French Language School
The school itself is centrally located in the town of Saint Raphael. Facilities include air conditioned classrooms and two terraces for lessons (remember it is a Mediterranean climate!). It is within 5 minutes walk to the main train and bus station and the beaches.

Why chose this school?
Our director Siobhan Ni Ghiolla Ri has lived and worked in the town of Saint Raphael for 12 years and is therefore familiar with the area, the school and the teachers. She is also an experienced teacher and language trainer and
owns the successful French language school “Le Livre d’Or” in Ennis Co. Clare. She is an examiner with the Department of Education and recognises that spending time in a foreign environment is an effective way to quickly learn and improve all aspects of language learning.

PLEASE NOTE: Students are accompanied personally by our director, Siobhan Ni Ghiolla Ri, to and from France. She will be supervising the students at all times.
